A Tribute to Flintoff- The Talisman

When an average Cricket fan thinks about Andrew Flintoff, the image of him consoling Brett Lee after an epic Test match comes to mind instantly. I must admit I didn’t like Freddie (Flintoff’s Nickname) initially. Probably his Run-ins with our beloved Ganguly made me think like that. But the more I saw of  Freddie the more I liked him. Freddie played the game the way it should be played, hard but always with a smile on his face. In this age of Sledging and bordering even on racial abuse, Freddie gave the game a fresh look. Michael Vaughan said that Freddie’s ability to lift his team and the crowd was second only to Sachin Tendulkar and I couldn’t agree with him more. He may not be considered the greatest of the game, but for a fan on the streets like me Freddie was indeed the Talisman. Now that he has decided to call it quits from Tests, I wish him all the very best in his ODI and T20 career.
