The answer for the question posted as a title of this article has to be "Yes" irrespective of whether we take the literal meaning of "Go Belly Up" ( which is the ballooning of our abdomen!!) or we take the phrasal meaning of "Go Belly Up" ( which is undergoing total financial failure!!). It is not a financial failure but a failure which can hardly be compensated with the help of finance. What failure are we talking about?? Or by earning lakhs of rupees per month, are we failing in any way?? By now, questions like these would have taken its incarnation in your beautiful mind. The answer for all such questions is "Yes". It is hard to accept but difficult to ignore either.

We miss to enjoy the most beautiful things in this even more beautiful world. We live a life of darkness and why I say so? We get up before sunrise and go to office and get locked in a tiny cubicle and switch on the computer and keep our eyes busy seeing that for hours!! We are too busy to take a break even which further restricts our exposure to the outside world. We return home after the sunset (sometimes in midnight!!) and sleep and the process continues like a chain reaction but the difference is this is even more dangerous than a chain reaction!! We are never exposed to any things (leave alone sunlight) other than the processor in front of us. Aren't we living in darkness??

We search for money which is not bad, but why do we search for it always?? We don't have to pay for enjoying some of the most beautiful moments. How many of us have gone for a walk early morning and enjoyed the sunrise?? Had diabetes not been there, we will not find many people walking!! How many of us allowed ourselves to mesmerize in music?? "Mozart's symphony was one of the secrets of my success. Every time I hear that beautiful piece of music, I get a new idea", Einstein said. Such is the power of music and we don't have to pay for hearing it. We don't have to pay for spending time with our family, and we will not be charged much for reading good books!!

But we work all day, chase money all day and we lose a wonderful day in the process although we would have gained lakhs on that particular day. I got a message two days back which summarizes everything:

The hot news at least for the past two days was the exhibition of perversion from a man who masqueraded himself as one of the spiritual leaders in India. He has centers virtually at all places and he has many serious disciples all over the world which is even more shocking. The name of the man is "Nithyananda". For some of the people who don't know about this news, this man Nithyananda was alleged to have wrong relationship with an actress and his pervert feelings towards her was shown in a famous News Channel all over the world. This is not the first time this is happening and this will not be the last.

This incident certainly raises some serious doubts in my mind and one of those is given as the title of this article. Yes. Has Spirituality become a tool for Perverts?? It is one of the easiest ways of performing crime because once they become well established as a spiritual person, people stay behind them as their strength which hides all the illegal activities they perform. Only few exploit the spirituality as the way I mentioned above. But what happens as a result is it affects the whole community.

Who is the root cause for it?? Certainly us. We believe everything without questioning it. If someone says he has got enormous powers and he can rectify all our problems, we believe that. We don't reason why and how and the problem starts there. As they say, common sense is the most uncommon thing in the world. We encourage these least rated fellows and at the end of the day we are blaming him for cheating us.

Think about it. Who cheated us?? Is it he? or we ourselves?

Stand up and Salute the Batting Genius!!

February 24th might not have been celebrated for any special occasion till now, but from now on it would not be an exaggeration to celebrate that day as an "Exhibition of Batting Skills". I have written couple of posts about the artistry involved in the beautiful game of Cricket or for any game for that matter. Cover drive is considered to be the most gorgeous stroke in Cricket. We all can play cover drive but how many of us can play this gorgeous stroke even when all 9 fielders are there inside the circle on the off side. Such is the artistry involved in this game.

I have been privileged to witness some great batting from Brian Lara when he scored 400, Mathew Hayden when he scored 380 and Hashim Amla when he displayed the power of concentration against India not so long ago. If we miss to concentrate even for a single ball, we can only find our stumps going for a toss and that is the beauty of this beautiful game. Why I say all these?? Because, the Master Blaster Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar batted throughout the innings and remained not out at 200 on the wonderful evening of February 24th. I have not seen him giving any chances what so ever during his innings. Concentrating continuously for three and half hours and score runs even after completing 20 years of International Cricket, he has to be the man whom we can look upon and say "Oh, this is how Passionate I should be in whatever I do and it is certain that I will break the record at some point of time"

I was taken by surprise when he crossed 200, not because he has made yet another record, but how can he be so greedy even after breaking so many records. But then I realized, even Greediness is good when it is mixed with Hard work and Passion!!

Out of the hundreds of mysteries surrounding and surmounting us, AIDS is certainly one among the top 5 if not the first.AIDS was identified in the 1980s and since then it has killed roughly around 25 million people. The amount of people who are getting infected by this deadly virus is increasing day by day. Last September, Dr. Nelson Michael, a colonel at the Walter Reed Army Research institute in Maryland, surprised the world with an experimental vaccine, which can cut the infection of the disease by 31 percent over 3 years.

This gave a new hope to researchers who can build on it and find out a permanent cure for this killer virus. But the effects of this new vaccine have started to ebb and this has struck another nail in researcher's coffin. When speaking about this in conference, Dr. Nelson Michael has said that the 16,000 Thailand volunteers who tested the vaccine were not at the high risk of infection. But the researchers have kept their hopes alive as this has resulted in yet another dimension in this field of research.

As they say, every problem born with a solution. Some solutions can be arrived quicker, but some will take longer than usual. But certainly, the solution is there!! That has evaded from us for the past 3 decades, but not anymore. We are on our way to attain that. Hats off to researchers for giving out everything to achieve that coveted secret!!

When Nobody is watching!!

The topic is very ambiguous and it was intentionally kept so. Not the traditional meaning of ambiguous, which is unclear, will suit here. But it is unclear because the topic makes one to think in multiple directions. The subject which I am going to deal in this tiny little article is "What we do when nobody is watching"?? According to me, the character one displays when no body is watching is his personification. Let me quote an example here. What would be better example than the traffic signal? We all rush through the traffic and at the time we near the stop line we would encounter the red signal, which signifies that we should wait. We will have to wait for another 60 seconds to get green signal. How many of us will wait for those 60 seconds when traffic police is not there?? Answer it to yourself, because nobody knows about you better than yourself.

The reason why I quoted this example is does not that signify the integrity of the individual. This may be very simple but believe me some of the complex things are not clear to us just because we are not aware of simple fundamentals. We present ourselves in motley number of ways at various times which in turn make us lose our individuality in the process.

Be the same to everyone. Let it be arrogance or kindness. Be kind even to the most arrogant person at all time or be arrogant even to the humblest person. We are already acting in the stage of world as Shakespeare said; please don't act once again just because we should appear pleasing to other fellow men!!

2009- The hottest year in Indian History!!

Every Indian would have felt the peak of heat in 2009 and here is the evidence which says that 2009 is the hottest year in Indian history. The average temperature of the year was around 25.55 degree Celsius, which was 0.913 degrees higher than the long term average 24.64 degree Celsius(Courtesy Times of India). Discussions are going on around the world about the climatic change and the effect of it. This is yet another evidence which clearly suggests that some serious thought have to be put on before it gets out of our clutches.

As the technology grows more quickly than ever, it posts yet another challenge even before we start reacting to already posted challenges. By the time we realize that we have to act we would have already lost most of the gifts of nature. Globe is not warming nowadays, it is boiling!! If at all we need to preserve ourselves from extinction, we need to react to this climate change faster than ever.

Human Extinction is on the cards if we react late!! It is already late but we let's hope it is not too late.

Is Partitioning a Solution??

Most fancied word of the year 2009 and may be 2010 will be "Partition". It all started in 1969 when this huge crisis started to lift its heads up. Telengana is one of the three primary regions into which the state AndraPradesh was divided after independence. After 60 years of independence, this region is alleged to be underdeveloped even now. Sources say that the main reason behind this is the government is not taking much care about this region and it has not taken any steps for its development compared to the other parts of Andra. This agitated the people of telengana to demand for a new state and thereby hoping to get their region developed.

Although the reason behind the furiousness of the people of telengana is acceptable, the solution that they want for their struggle is worth pondering about. It is not the partition that matters for them, but the development. I can only see politics mixed up in this whole agitation. Some politicians make use of people's strength and unity to achieve power. Even if the people of telengana get their own state, if the politicians are not good, they are going to end up getting a horrible government again. What this partition (if happens), will do is to induce people all over India to demand a separate state for their own region and it will not be good for the country as well.

The ideal solution for this is to give preference to the people of telengana in various fields to improve their standard of living. Fix an agenda of the action items which are to be carried out by the government in the coming year and the expected development in this region. After all they need actions from government not excuses!!

Waiting list – A virtual confusion!!

Even if we have reserved a ticket two or three weeks back, we would get only a ticket under waiting list. Daily we would check the status of the ticket noticing only a no change. After a great frustration, we would try other ways out to make the ticket confirmed. A list of our railway friends and relations would come to our mind and a dilemma occurs as to whom to approach.

Somehow, we would decide a person and start contacting them. By the time the waiting list would automatically decrease but you would start moving the tickets through the same person (as we always aim for a peaceful journey). Periodic checking of the ticket status only increases the network congestion unnecessarily as the status remains the same (or with some minor changes).

Is not waiting list a virtual confusion??

The epitome of this particular article is obvious from the title. This article is about the two contradictory words (or made to look contradictory rather) TRUE and LOVE which are used together in the modern era. Love is one of the very few feelings which is common among all creatures in the world. If someone asks me to list the top five words in any language, I will certainly keep Love at the top. We have seen some fabulous love stories in the past and through the writings of Shakespeare. I have always admired those, not because it was written by Shakespeare, but because it delivers one of the most beautiful feelings within us whenever we read it.

Yes Love was the greatest in the past. But is it the situation in the modern world?? As centuries went by, we kept changing the definition of love according to our convenience and now we are in a situation where we really do not know what exactly Love means and how great is it to be loved by someone. To be frank, the modern day love has become like a T20 cricket. While T20 may last for 6 hours or so, this may last for a day as far as I know. I have not seen anything quicker than this yet!! We do not discipline our mind and that is the reason it always searches for the better even though we already got the best. I have also seen some people love for money. Believe me, which is the worst respect you can give to this FOUR LETTER MAGIC.

I do not attempt to correct this world through this article. If one person who reads this article can make a life long commitment towards his/her love, I have done my part pretty well.

That is why it is an attempt to mold things not people!!

I have heard many people saying that it is nice to have a collection of good memories of our life which will make us feel good later on. I was not a great supporter of this idea at that point of time. I have seen some photo albums of my friends but it did not impress me to make one for me either. But the latest incident which has happened in a cafe, made me to rethink about the idea of having one.

I went to cafe with my next door uncle and his wife and their cute new born baby. While surfing, he wanted to show their family Digital Photo Albums to me. Although I was not a great supporter of maintaining albums, the word DIGITAL kindled my interest. He logged on to his account in a site and opened his Family Biography only to surprise me. I was astonished by the growth of technology which made people to maintain their memories online with at most clarity and can be accessible anywhere in the world.

He continued to show me the various photos which he had uploaded and also some of the precious moments of his life. I saw a divine enthusiasm in his face when he explained each and every photo to me. Certainly those are precious moments because which bring back the much covert smile in his face. This continued for two hours and it appeared like two minutes to me. Immediately I registered in the site to start capturing my Biography.

Memories are indeed beautiful!! I realized it for the first time.

After 45 years, Ring of Fire can be watched from India On Jan15!!

The solar eclipse famously known as Ring of Fire can be seen from southern part of India on Jan 15. On November 23, 1965 the eclipse was viewed from India. After 45 years, this eclipse on Jan 15th can be seen from southern part of India in cities like Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari , Madurai, Tanjavur and also in some parts of Kerela.

The annular solar eclipse happens when the moon covers the nuclear part of the sun leaving the outer part exposed. This happens mainly because the earth will be comparatively closer to sun and hence the moon will not be covering the whole sun. As a result of this the central part of sun will be darkened and the edges will be shining like a ring of fire and hence the name. The eclipse which is about to happen on Jan 15th is comparatively the longest one which stays for about 10 minutes and 7 seconds. The time duration is between 1:17 pm and 1:25 pm says Birla planetarium director Debi Prosad Duari.

So, let's watch this beautiful event with care!!

This is the first law from the book “48 laws of power” by Robert Greene. Why did this one occupy the first place among the other 47 laws? Everyone will have this question in mind and I had the same question in my mind too. But on a deep analysis this law seems to be the most important in a person’s life. A general thought – Acting smart and intelligent than the master can yield higher levels. Things are the other way around instead! It will create hatred in your master towards you and a possibility to search another person in substitute for you (who is not much wiser than your master).

The reason is simple. Will you like a person who is wiser than you to work for you. You will obviously get a second thought that he can easily take your place. When most of the husbands don’t like to have a wiser wife, how can a master have a wiser servant or a worker? But for this reason it is foolish to act foolish which again can create a thought that you are unfit for the job. Justify your work, do the thing which is only needed, praise your master at times – only these qualities can yield you the next level in your job or so.

Master your skills to become a master but don’t execute them when you are working under another master!!

A Resolute Resolution to start this New Year!!

We stay awake to have a blast when both hands of the clock hug together!! We go to bed fully tired and wake up in the morning only to receive phone calls. We get messages from numerous people wishing us Happy New Year. We receive messages from a lot of unknown numbers and we ask who this is. When the reply comes, we realize those are the people whom we missed a lot for quite a while. Suddenly, an exchange of love through the wonderful invention called Mobile Phone. A meet, a date, a get together and a party. Wav!! That is what New Year is all about. That is why Jan 1st of every year is expected with at most curiosity.

Apart from partying, we do take resolutions during every New Year. No matter whether we follow it or not, everyone will take some resolutions or other. We get the first step right by taking a resolution, but we don't take the second step to follow it in spite of any tribulations. Have we ever thought why?? We know answer for a 100 billion dollar question when we watch the program on TV. But had we been in the same hot seat facing the same question, we would not have answered correctly. Have we ever though why?? FAITH is the answer. We don't believe ourselves hundred percent. We are ready to accept Albert Einstein as a genius and we are not at all ready to encourage the genius within us. Why because we don't believe ourselves.

We can start finding the root cause of any problem but I am sure the root is always same!! So, why can't we take a resolution to believe ourselves irrespective of any situation? Suggestion is mine and decision is all yours!!

Angelina Jolie, the evergreen beauty is named the Beauty icon of the Decade. The poll was conducted by Superdrug which is Britain's second largest health and beauty retailer. It was alleged that the survey included answers from 3000 people and Angelina Jolie's strong character, pout and thick hair were the primary reason for her winning the contest. Nevertheless, it is a great credit to be complimented as the Beauty icon of the Decade, isn't it??

The second tidbit in our agenda is rather funny and weird one. This tidbit is about an Israeli man who divorced his 11th wife recently. When asked whether he was unsatisfied with all those previous marriage relationships, he astounded everyone with his answer. He alleged to have said that his custom is to divorce his wives every two years and look for a new bride immediately thereafter. He was reported to have said "I throw out a hook and the fish come on its own".

I forgot to mention one more thing about this Israeli. He is 50-years old and he has already started his hunt for a new bride!!

World's Fastest Train started its journey from Saturday!!

Japan has been more successful in manufacturing high speed trains over the past few years. These trains can travel at an average speed of 243 kilometer per hour. France has got its own high speed train which can travel at an average speed of 277 kilometer per hour. Amazing speeds for a train isn't it?? But keep yourself ready to amaze again. This time it's China who joined this club by manufacturing a train which can travel at an average speed of 350 kilometer per hour. This is the average speed of that train which means that the train can travel at a maximum speed of 394 kilometer per hour.

On Saturday, this newest child in the history of high speed trains was introduced and on its inaugural run, the train covered 1068 km between Wuhan in Central China and Guangzhou in the South China in 2 hours and 45 minutes!! This train is expected to reduce the travel time by at least 6 hours. The technology behind this high speed line was developed in cooperation with Siemens, Bombardier and Alstom.

What next to amaze us?? Let us keep our fingers crossed

Christmas - Serenity Personified!!

Every festival has its own importance and specialty. Christmas is well known for its specialty and it is celebrated all over the world. Reasons behind festivals may be different but the purpose is to keep us energetic, enthusiastic, buoyant and let all the positive adjectives follow. Another important purpose of such festivals is to bind all of us together (which is becoming very difficult in this busy world). I was sitting in the cubicle adjacent to the cubicle of a person in a training program which lasted for a month. At the last day of the training, he accidentally saw me and asked me the below question only to shock me.

"Why have you joined the training now?? It is going to get over today"

Believe me, such is the trend of today's world. We always forget to notice what is happening around the world. We keep ourselves busy even though we are not. To relax and experience the sweetness of serenity at least for few days we celebrate festivals. Ask anybody whether they enjoy working or enjoy celebrating festivals. Most will prefer later because they enjoy doing it. What I like about Christmas, is the fun and the songs which will be sung in church. Those songs will be pleasant to hear and we can experience relaxed mind there. We are clearing all the unwanted thoughts from our mind there and listening to wonderful music. That is the meaning of calmness.

If we can experience this calmness daily in our life, we will never make our life complex. As the famous saying goes "It is not that we don't play because we grow old, we grow old because we don't play"

Let us start experiencing the serenity from this Christmas!! Merry Christmas

Tomato soups on streets during La Tomatina!!

One of the interesting ways of using tomato can be found during La Tomatina. La Tomatina, a famous festival, is celebrated in Valencia(Spain) during last Wednesday of August. The specialty of this festival is it involves lot of tomatoes not for eating but for fighting!! Yes you read it right. Tomatoes for fighting. This is portrayed as one of the bizarre yet interesting festivals celebrated around the world.

The history of this La Tomatina is ambiguous and there was not single conclusive evidence which explains the reason of this festival, Nevertheless this festival is celebrated with tremendous enthusiasm in Spain. There will be a rocket firing on Wednesday to indicate the start of La Tomatina and the action starts from there. It goes on for another hour and again a rocket firing will mark the end of the festival. We can't spot a color other than red during this festival in Spain.

Had Spain been the only country in earth, Earth would have got the name RED PLANET ahead of Mars!!

Economics is one of those terms which are widely used but least known. Knowingly or unknowingly we come across economics lot of times in our day to day life. We buy a product and its cost is based on economics and our salary hike which is also based on economics. This article is to throw some light on one of the key indicators of Economics.

GDP is one of the key indicators of economics which stands for Gross Domestic Product. GDP represents the market value of all goods and services provided by the country during the measured period. GDP calculation includes personal consumption, private inventories, government purchases, foreign trade. The amount of exports the country does will be added and the imports will be subtracted. The final value arrived after calculating this will be presented as a percentage growth compared to the previous year (mostly annualized basis).

The main advantage of GDP is if the GDP growth percentage is high, it means the country is doing well and there are lots of opportunities available for business. So the market will improve and the country will attract more investors. This will further increase the economy. But that is also dangerous as well.

If GDP goes too high, then the prices of all the products will be increasing and we will end up facing Inflation!! What about low GDP then?? If GDP goes negative for two quarters or if it stays still without improvement we will end up facing Recession!!

Striking the balance. This is the challenge every country faces every time!!

This movie gives an illusion of reading a novel when watching on screen (in fact the movie is based on the novel “The Godfather”). Subtle emotions, powerful dialogues, and vibrant music make Godfather a real man!

City bus, a place where one can witness many scenes not capsuled in cinemas. That too crowded bus adds to the flavor. This is one such scene visualized by me in such a crowded city bus. The crowd made me restless and the travel was too long. I was grumping for boarding that bus until she looked at me. It was the moment that re-energized and poised me.

She was very pretty and looked like an angel. A mole on her cheek is the aspect that attracted me a lot. I smiled, she sighed. I was staring at her for a long time when I noticed her feeling uneasy. Yes, she was afraid of her mother. So I started looking her at irregular intervals. Our eyes met four times and we had a great time. I had a meaningful travel! I tried to approach her many times but in vain. Alas! I had to leave the bus and her too. She was staying in my eyes the whole day even after the journey.

But one thing, she is the most wonderful 2-year old baby I have ever met!!

Mr.Squiggles in the Hot News for all the Wrong Reasons!!

The Zhu Zhu toy hamster, famously called as Mr. Squiggles, is one of the hottest selling toys in the holiday season. Zhu Zhu toys are interactive toys which can respond to noise and touch and hence it is very popular among all the children. Recently, it has been reported that the antimony content present in this toy is very high. The excess amount of antimony content may cause severe damage to lungs and heart. It is particularly dangerous for children as they will get affected too easily.

Cepia LLC, the manufacturer of Zhu Zhu toys, says that the products manufactured by them are within the safety limits. They have said that the products are launched into the market after undergoing rigorous testing in different conditions. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reviewing the product and is expected to release its results soon. Meanwhile, the consumer protection group GoodGuide, which has tested Mr.Squiggles reportedly said that their testing standards are different from European and American testing methodologies.

This happens at times of emergency!!!

Emergency can be anything –for example, when you have to attend a meeting.

The office (where there is a meeting) will be very far from the other place where you reside (around 10 kilometers or more).
The way to reach your office will have many complexes and obviously more crowd.
People around you will start to crawl and you will find no place to walk.
Signals will stay in red for more than 2 minutes and you will be stuck up in every signal in your travel either by your vehicle or by bus.
You will get lot of calls (especially crank calls) and most other calls will go in waiting. But the sad thing is you will not have enough balance to call them back!
You will have all sort of physical troubles like stomach pain, headache or so.
The person near you in bus will be a chatterbox when you try to have some peace.
You will come to a conclusion that you can never reach the spot in time taking in to account of all the sequences you met that day.

Inspite of all these hurdles, you will reach the destination in time but the meeting would have been cancelled!!!

It would be nice to start this article with Albert Einstein's famous quote "Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves." How about that for a romantic quote!!

If we look at this saying of Einstein in a deeper manner, we can taste the flavor rather than just smelling it!! It is not about driving or kiss, it is about the attention love deserves. It is GREAT to love and it is a TREAT when loved by someone. That is the reason Dating is a GREAT TREAT!!

Dating does not imply anything related to sensual feelings as fabricated by many if not most. A man feels more comfortable with woman and vice versa. This is how the human design works!! When two people who are comfortable with each other (may be wanted to be more comfortable) spend time together in a peaceful place, we call it dating. Is that not the inception of love which we lose in the process of money hunting?

Nothing is bad unless we think it is. But our thinking should be right!!

11-digit mobile numbers from January!!!

The current 10-digit mobile number plan is likely to be changed to 11-digit from January 2010, says an internal note from the Directorate of Telecommunications (DoT). This current National Numbering plan was introduced in the year 2003 with the forecast of 50% teledensity by 2030. With over 10-14 million new mobile subscribers every month, the anticipated target has been reached a year before. The mobile subscribers have increased far than expected and so an additional digit is required to accommodate numbers for new customers.

This new numbering plan may be prefixing ‘9’ to the existing mobile number but those details are not yet revealed. This is not new to us as we have already got used to an additional digit (prefixing ‘2’, to be specific) to landline telephone numbers. So we will get used very soon to this if introduced.

A fire in today’s youth!!!

Happy days, aimless wander, last time exam preparations, get together for no reason, job hunts, entry into an industry for living – this is the common notion of anyone about youth. And everyone thinks that the so called youth spell gets over after getting a job as they get settled after that. Here comes a full stop for this view. We (I am also under this youth spell) are not what you think. We have lateral views, social awareness, an urge to create an affluent society and many more good qualities. Many of my friends are so motivated that they want the society also to grow with them. They are trying to be professional in office but human in life. Most of us know that life is not office alone!!!

One of my friend said that he is going to learn sign language to help deaf and dumb people. Other friend of mine has an aim of studying political science after some years. Many of them in my circle started visiting orphanages and old age homes to celebrate their happiness which were hotels and restaurants before. Guys have started writing articles on social issues which haunt them and make people aware of that. This is just examples from my friends’ circle. Then imagine how many circles will have the same fire? We have a fire not to destroy but to enlighten our society.

Please do not notice only the chit chats and laughs– we do have a history within us.

One of the toughest competitive examinations ever and the most prestigious one of the country is the Common Admission Test (CAT) examinations. Students undergo an Olympic preparation for months together with the aim of getting an admission in any of the IIMs (Indian Institute of Management). The education and coaching in IIM is hi-tech (I suppose so) but the exams were not till last year. It was in the usual paper-pencil mode and so IIM peeked into making CAT exam online from this year on November 28. The first attempt in history never speaks success. Such happened at yesterday’s CAT online examination when there was a server crash in many centers all over the country. Some students had a delay in the examination and for some others it was rescheduled.

Again today (Nov 29) there was a server down in some places. The tests for those candidates who were unable to take up the test have been rescheduled with in the next nine days. In a seminar yesterday, MBA exam experts have reacted sharply stating that the crisis was a result of under-preparedness of IIMs and its testing partner Prometric. They have also demanded IIM to give a public apology for the same and immediate corrective actions.

The preparation to avoid crisis should also be taken into account when organizing an examination. Did IIMs fail in that perspective?

Anti-Obesity Day – A report!!!

It is usual human nature to notice the big things and leave the minute things unnoticed. Like starting for an examination with every material in hand but forgetting the hall ticket. This is a common phenomenon where the entire humankind falls. But a very rare case exists among us which is very large but still is unnoticed. It is obesity!!! People keep putting weight around us and we witness all those changes and sometimes feel jealous of them. The fact is obesity is not good all the time. Obesity may cause serious cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

To reduce the hazards caused by this growing disease, anti-obesity campaigns are being launched and people are educated on this ground. But theory classes will not help as we are not ready for exams. Practically, reducing junk foods and other diet including hydrogenated and saturated fats alone can reduce the rate from now on. We expand our physique but shrink the brains in the name of urbanization. Eating junk foods and oily items cannot be termed urbanization.

Obesity in children less than 7 years of age raises the risk of heart diseases in the future. A recent survey shows that there are more than 1 billion overweight adults (Reports from World Health Organization) and another survey says that nearly four out of 10 adults in the USA will be obese within five years if people keep packing on pounds at the current rate. So obesity is really a problem to be controlled when it is in our hands. Let us start to educate people on this from Anti-obesity day on November 26.

We have a lot of problems in our society like population, pollution, nuclear deal, unemployment, recession, and many more. Should obesity fall in this list??

Dream is the place where we forget reality and one such place in that place (I meant the dream now!) is Ooty (Tamil Nadu, India). Even an aimless search will give the geographical location and other theories of this place and so only describing its beauty can add beauty to this article.Surrounded by mountains and clouds, this place is hardly visible in morning.But a morning walk in this place will give you the fragrance of eucalyptus and other oils which gets injected into every cell of our body. This is the exact location for writers (such a pleasant climate will make even the animals to sing and birds to dance, why can't it then kindle a mood in writers???). The maximum temperature in this place crosses only around 18 degree celsius in summer which is too low in equatorial regions. The sceneries in this place demand us to buy another 2 GB memory card!!! A family tour in Ooty is considered as a trip to heaven in our state.

Devil's Triangle - A Mystery??

The Bermuda Triangle, which is still considered to be a modern world mystery, is called as Devil's Triangle.Why is it a mystery and why is this name?. The area represented by Bermuda Triangle is mainly formed by three places Florida,Bermuda and Puerto Rico. When we join these three cities with an imaginary line, it forms a triangle and hence the name. This imaginary area is located in southeastern Atlantic Coast of United States. The mystery here is the frequent disappearance of ships and flights whenever it crosses this area.

Lots of scientific explanations were given in the past 50 years for the disappearances. Those explanations were relevant but not apt. The Bermuda Triangle is nothing but a stretch of water flowing between the mentioned cities. Most of the theories cited environmental factors as a reason for the disappearances. The Bermuda triangle is one of the two places in earth where the magnetic compass will point towards true north. Otherwise, the magnetic compass will be pointing to magnetic north. The deviation between the two is approximately 20 degrees which will result in huge deflection. But the evidences gathered didn't reveal any semblance of this.

One of the famous theories about Bermuda Triangle was given by Dr. Ben Clennell, of Leeds University, England. This theory is about the presence of Methane Hydrates in Ocean. The large amount of sediments of Methane Hydrates in ocean would lessen the density of water. This will make any ship floating above the water sink like a rock. Also, the highly combustible gas can ignite the aircraft and blow it into pieces. But, to make atmosphere highly combustible, it certainly requires huge percentage of flammable gas to be present in atmosphere. But this is not a conclusive theory either!!

Theories keep coming by, but the Mystery still not demystified!!

The worst disease that can stop a nation’s progress is corruption. The common thought is that corruption resides only in the nation where we reside. I had this thought and was grumping my nation until I came to know the Corruption Perceptive Index (CPI). CPI score (which is out of 10) reveals an apparent level of public sector corruption in a country. CPI table of the year 2009 comprises 180 countries and this table is created from independent surveys from reliable sources. Higher the CPI, the least is the corruption. This data is 90% confident.

The country which holds the highest CPI is New Zealand (9.4) followed by Denmark (9.3) and then by Singapore (9.2). The most corruptive nation is Somalia (1.1). On analyzing the reasons behind the nations with high CPI, the one striking our head first is that these countries have a stable government. Other reasons might include well performing judiciary, active anti-corruption agencies, independent audits and other potential reasons.

The other data is that CPI of majority of the nations (nearly 125 countries) is below 5. And the most important thing is India is in the 84^th position in this table with a score of 3.4.

The title will not puzzle cricket fans around the world as everyone will be aware of what it means. The title will not puzzle even those people who are not cricket fans but watch Tendulkar play cricket. Yes we don't have to be a cricket fan to admire the artwork that Tendulkar employs when he steps in the 22 yards. I don't believe there is any other category exist other than the cricket fans and non-cricket fans, but still as a title it demands explanation.

"Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, famously known as Little Master, joins the list of 15 other players whose international careers have spanned for more than 20 years". This is the message!!

Cricket is a beautiful game not because everyone loves it, but because of the flavor of its own. You need to be an artist to score runs. With the advent of twenty-twenty format, cricket has become more of power hitting game. But the fact is otherwise. Can any one of us forget the knock of 175 by Tendulkar against Australia in the recently concluded one day series?? Will any one of us say that knock as a power hitting or slogging?? . If we have to seek explanation for the definition of cricket, we have to watch that knock of artistry!!

More than a cricketer, Sachin is a gentle man. He had his tough times but showed right spirit even in trying circumstances. He said "People threw stones at me, but I have converted it into milestones". Such is the character of this great man. I am not saying he is the greatest of all, but he is one of those characters which we can look upon for emulation.

Records are meant to be broken and little master is doing exactly that!!

Its hindrance because every minute spent to grow a child is very tough and tiring task but with a happiness hidden in it. Any language can be learnt easily but the language that can only be guessed is a baby’s language. And it is when the child starts to speak, ‘wh’ questions like “why”, “what”, “where” come into play.Then starts kindergarten, rhymes, songs, and all fun! In a flicker, the size of the school bag increases with the burden. Marks, grades, rank, percentage,total and all the other terms frighten the students and tighten the parents.

But inspite of all these burdens,there is an elation which can only be experienced. The best movie in this world is a child’s smile. This movie can be watched how many ever times and for any duration. And once again, “HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY”!!

A Balanced balance!!

This is the most tiring task in a man’s life – to be balanced. We burst out into tears when sad and sometimes even when happy or laugh out loud when overwhelmed with joy. We don’t exhibit a balanced emotion and ultimately the term ‘saint’ or ‘sage’ is tossed for those who execute such a balance. Not only in emotions but we do this in every part of our life from maintaining a bank balance to mobile balance. Only extremes prevail in these – either very high or too low. When there is good bank balance the first thought to run in our minds would be to bring it down.

And for your information, my mobile balance is negative now which was in three figures yesterday!!

Can anyone find an answer for this????

Please read this story patiently. The characters are a woodcutter, a priest, a bandit, a woman and her husband, and a common man. Here goes the story:

The priest and the woodcutter are in a discussion which is then interrupted by the common man who shelters that place for rain. So now the three discusses the story of a murder. The woodcutter was the first person to see a dead body which he informs to the police immediately. He saw a woman’s hat, a rope and the dead body. The priest had seen the dead man alive three days back and he provided witness for the same. The woodcutter then narrates the scene in the courtyard. Scene moves to the courtyard now. A man brings a bandit whom he found lying near a horse as if he tried to steal the horse and the horse assaulted him. The post hereafter is going to capture the exact scene from now on.

Bandit:

I was lying there due to severe stomach ache. I know that I am going to be hanged but I am least bothered. It was me who killed that man. I saw a beautiful woman in the forest with that man and I was very much attracted by the woman’s beauty and so decided to have her. I isolated her from her husband and tied him up. In my attempt to harass her, she fought with a pearl lined dagger. I won the fight and her too. Then the woman made a proposal that only one of the men should be alive as she cannot be disgraceful to both. We had a big fight and at last I stabbed the husband with my sword. The woman fled from the place and I didn’t see the face of her after that.

[The common man then said that he would have killed the woman as killing is not new to him. But the priest said that the woman also gave the witness.]

The woman:

The bandit raped me and fled. But my husband gave such a cold hatred look which I was unable to digest. His look had hatred as if I gave room to the bandit. I asked him to stop, cried a lot but he kept staring. I fainted after that and when I woke up my husband was stabbed by a dagger. I tried to kill myself but that also failed, after all it was my unlucky day.

[Now the witness is the husband’s spirit through a medium.]

The husband:

The bandit after his triumph started convincing my wife that he would marry my wife as she cannot live with me after such an incident. My wife accepted asking him to kill me which made the bandit also stun. The bandit asked me, “Is the idea of living with her still running in your mind even after hearing these words?” My ugly look made the bandit chase her to kill but she fled. Later I was untied. I stabbed myself with the dagger. Then I felt someone taking the dagger from my chest but within that darkness surrounded me.

[The woodcutter later says that neither of them are right as he saw the entire scene from the bush.]

The woodcutter:

After the rape, the bandit pleaded to the woman to marry him. The woman asked the bandit to fight with her husband. But the husband refused to fight for her since she is meaningless now and asked the woman to commit suicide. The woman said that only if he wins the bandit she can commit suicide and eventually the fight begins. The bandit wins not with valor but with tactics and kills the husband with a sword. The woman then fled, might be she thought thebandit was yet another man!

The common man:

If the husband is killed by the sword then what happened to the dagger mentioned by the bandit? Did the earth swallow it?

[The woodcutter later confesses that he took the dagger.]

Now the only question in my mind is, “Was the person killed by a sword or a dagger?” Everyone spoke (or speaks) only the justice on their side. The prejudice remains a mystery till the end and even after the end (I mean the spirit’s witness). This is the story of the Japanese movie “Rashomon”directed by Akira Kurosawa.

And the indirect question to the above question is “WHOIS SPEAKING THE TRUTH?”

Mahatma Gandhi spoke English with an Irish accent, inspired from his first teacher who was Irish.

He had a set of false teeth to eat. He used to wash them after eating and preserve them in his loin cloth.

Gandhi started a newspaper called “Indian Opinion” in four languages (English, Tamil, Gujarati and Hindi) in which he has written more than 16 columns.

Gandhi’s income in South Africa reached around $15,000 a year, which is still a dream for many.

He tried out different dieting to live cheap but healthy. And at last found the goat milk and fruits formula as a key to good health.

He has never visited United States but he has many American fans and followers.

On seeing the poor condition of the nation Gandhi asked the people not to bring any more children to this world. (With the thought that they will at least sleep in heaven for some more time).

As you would have guessed it from the title, this article is undoubtedly about Eggs. This article is not a discussion about whether egg is a vegetarian food or a non-vegetarian food. Google Wave – Gonna create a wave!!!

Email revolution started somewhere around 1960’s after which it took various forms like instant messaging, wiki’s, social bookmarking and so on. What next? Here comes Google Wave!!! Engineering and innovation do not have a full stop. And now we are a step ahead in communication engineering. Google Wave paves way to real time collaboration and communication.

A wave is equal parts of conversation, where people can communicate and work together on richly formatted text, videos, photos, maps and so on. I downloaded this video on Google Wave which is pretty long but was astonished at the innovation. It allows you easy email platform. The best thing that admired me a lot is this: When you chat with someone online, you need not wait till the text is entered nor get bored of seeing “X is typing”. You can see each and every character that is getting typed from the other end and so this allows you to easily understand what the other person is trying to intend.

And the attachments can be sent through a simple drag and drop. Again the other person who remains online can immediately view the thumbnail of the attachments during the dragging time itself. The best part of Google Wave is the collaborative writing. When you add members to the wave, any member can edit the document and the playback features allows you to view the entire changes to the document or work. What an idea!!!

Please watch the video on Google wave to know the protocols and other interesting features concealed in it. And the most important aspect is Google Wave is open sourced!!!

Every time I write a program in any language I get annoyed only of this single punctuation mark. The logic of the program seems to be right or structure of the program too. But when I run the program a window pops up saying. “Syntax error – ‘)’ missing”. And yes, the thing in discussion now is the bracket (and for your information, bracket is a punctuation mark). Please read the text within brackets at least this time. Failing to read within brackets gave me a bitter experience today.

I got selected in a renowned software concern and they called me for certificate verification today. The information was passed through mail and so having a quick glance at it made me to prepare myself. I took my needed documents and rushed to the place today noon. Something was weird there when I noticed everyone writing their information in the photocopies of the documents. I didn’t take the photocopy of any of the documents. When enquiring to my friends they said that photocopies are mandatory as it was specified. I had to run quickly to the nearest shop and take the photocopies. And at last this happened. It was time and they asked me to come tomorrow.

                I came home and referred my mail. And the mail read, “Please bring all your certificates (with a set of photocopies).” If I had spent 5 seconds in reading the text within brackets I would not have been wasted another day.

                                 Please read this too. (What a waste of time !!!)

Is America in decline???

Recession has swiped the economy of several nations in which America is not an exception. The prosperity index (published by Legatum institute) of United States has leaped down to 9^th place which was at 4^th position last year. The decline is not vindicated by this alone as this is only a tip of an iceberg. There are many other factors which acknowledge the truth.

Reports from other trustful sources justify the above statement. IMF (International Monetary Fund) says that Asia is improving rapidly and that same has predicted the unemployment rate in America will be around 10.1% (which actually is an improvement compared to last year) is not a good sign of immediate recovery from recession. Also IMF has predicted that U.S economy will improve by 1.9% next year by which at least 10 developed countries will grow much faster.

Above all, United States is now one among the four nations where the living satisfaction is going down!!!!

Grandfather becomes a father of twins !!!

Isn't that funny? A 72 year old man giving birth to twins !!! Richard Roden from Walsall (United Kingdom) is now the oldest father after giving birth to twins. And the most funny thing is the mother of these children is just 25 years old. Actually, Richard got his first child when he was 20 and has nine more children(excluding the new born twins) born to his other two wives. He is also the grandfather of 36 children !!!

And he says that he like to be a father again and would give birth to many children. And now my doubt is " What will these new born call Richard's other children?" and "What will Richard's grandchildren call these twins"? Only Richard should answer this !!

Slumdog stars - not shining in schools !!!

         Monthly stipend of $120, trips to Los Angeles, Hong Kong, London and alot of other privileges in schooling !! Those lucky kids are 10-year-old Rubina Alia and 11-year-old Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail,the stars who shone in the 8 Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire. Anappartment of worth $50,000 has been given to Azharuddin and anotherappartment is about to be given to Rubina. Also a lump sum amount iswaiting for them after they cross 18 years of age. But the funny thingis that these kids do not go to school and they keep on going on tripsand functions. Azharuddin shows only 37% of attendance and Rubina isstill worse with 27%.

         Rubina (Junior Lathika) and Azharuddin (Junior Salim) are really from wretched slums and they were boarded in a Mumbai school by director Danny Boyle. And they are given all those privileges under the condition that they have to complete the schooling. But now the trust has threatened that they would cancel their stipend if they do not show good attendance in schools. The trust just recommend them to go on trips on weekends so that they can complete their education. On the other hand their parents say that their absence were due to some deaths in family and their kids would attend the school from now on.

         Everyone will not get chance but those who get chances never use it to the fullest. Let's see in which case do these kids fall in the future.

         Most of the accidents in the city are due to cell phone driving. We ourselves know the danger behind this but we never stop. The Government tried to educate the people on the dangers of cell phone driving through ads, short films, and other media. We watch with fun but forget the motive behind. Now, the Transport authorities in New Delhi has come forward to make the traffic rules stringent as nothing worked out.

         According to this new traffic codes, license will be cancelled for 6 months if a person is caught speaking on phone while driving. Not only this, even reading or sending messages while driving is considered to be an offence. Only if the acts are stringent, mistakes can be eradicated. The total deaths in accidents last year has crossed 130,000 which covers nearly 10% of the world's fatal deaths. These acts are to implemented soon. If this works out well then it is better to implement the same in other metropolitan cities too.

              So walk when you talk, don't drive!!!
